TIG Welding Services
Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, also called gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to create the weld. The region being welded and the electrode are protected from oxidation or other atmospheric debasement by an inert shielding gas (argon or helium). Normally, a filler metal is also used, though some welds, referred to as autogenous welds, do not require it. When helium is used, this is known as heliarc welding.
TIG Welding Overview
TIG welding is often used to weld thin sections of steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, aerospace alloys, and copper alloys. The process allows for greater operator control over the weld than other processes such as shielded metal arc welding and gas metal arc welding. This grants stronger, higher quality welds.
